The Church of Saint Thekla, originally a medieval structure, was significantly altered following either an earthquake or an attack on Jbeil. It was later transformed into a private church by the Sheikh Abdl Ahad Baz family in 1804.
The church has a basilica plan with a horseshoe-shaped apse. Within the interior central space, the octagon formed by the rib vault is covered with a small dome. Notably, the portal is adorned with a muqarnas, an architectural element consisting of staggered tiers of niche-like cells.
